Working condition profile
Hot desert development programs drill long sequences of relatively evenly spaced pads at around 7000 m depth on 114 mm drill pipe. Ambient heat and airborne dust strain engines, hydraulics, and electrical rooms, while program economics are dominated by rig-up and rig-down time: every day spent moving between pads is a day not drilling. A conventional deep land rig must be dismantled, trucked in dozens of loads, reassembled, and re-leveled each move, which over a long pad-by-pad program consumes a large share of the schedule. The rig must therefore stay largely assembled, self-move short distances across the desert between nearby pads, and still meet deep-well hoisting and circulation capacity.
